The deputy government delegate in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited today the City Council of A Lama to get to know first-hand the details of the project ´A Lama: a green paradise to discover´. The project, which represents an investment of 50 thousand euros, has received a contribution of 45,084.60 euros from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, within the framework of the Government’s line of aid aimed at promoting innovative projects for territorial transformation and the fight against despoboation. The remaining money, 5,009.40 euros, will be contributed by the City Council with its own funds.
During the visit, Losada was accompanied by the mayor, David Carrera, Guti Martín, technician of Sherpa Project company that developed the project, and other members of the local government team, whom he praised for their efforts to raise state funds to promote tourism and economic activity in the territory. A Lama is the only city council in the province that got this help and the project presented is among the one hundred best of the 350 selected.
The initiative, which includes the creation of an interactive tourist guide and the elaboration of a manual to attract investors to the tourism sector, aims to strengthen the local economy through the promotion of the historical and natural heritage of the area.
The interactive guide, developed for viewing on both mobile devices and computers, will be a fundamental tool to publicize the tourist resources of the area. It includes detailed descriptions, photographs and maps of places of interest, promoting active, cultural, natural and gastronomic tourism. Through this guide, visitors will be able to explore the area, plan their visits and find resources related to the historical and natural heritage of A Lama.
The project also includes the creation of a handbook for tourism companies, with a view to sustainability and innovation. This manual will provide guidelines for entrepreneurs and investors to create new businesses in the tourism sector, with the aim of increasing employment and improving the local economy.
The mayor, David Carrera, stressed the importance of this project for the municipality, since “thanks to the support of the Government of Spain we can reinforce the positioning of A Lama as a destination of tourist interest, making its attractions visible and promoting job creation”.
On the other hand, Abel Losada highlighted the effort that the Government is making in the fight against the demographic challenge and despoboation. “The Government’s commitment to supporting small municipalities and its efforts to implement projects that improve their local economy and the well-being of their neighborhood is once again evident,” and he insisted that “this initiative can serve as an example for other municipalities in the province that want to face demographic challenges and take advantage of the funding opportunities offered by the Government for their development.”
The city council plans to start the project during the first quarter of this year, ending it in the last quarter of 2026.
