The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted “the bright future” of the research done in the Galician universities, embodied in Cristina Blanco, Beatriz Pelaz and Verónica Bolón, recognized by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities with the National Research Award for Young People. The delegate, together with the subdelegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, received this morning Cristina Blanco Sío López, whom both congratulated for this award in the ‘María Moliner’ modality, referring to the Humanities. They were also accompanied by Ricardo Cao, rector of the Universidade da Coruña.
Pedro Blanco stressed that the National Research Awards of 2024 “reflect the growing weight of female talent in science that is done in Galician centers and agencies.” For this reason, he stressed that the avant-garde of Galician science has a woman’s face, with the award-winning researchers as the flagship.
The delegate reiterated the Government’s commitment to science and technology, with legislative measures such as the new Law on Science and practical actions focused on promoting calls for aid, making them more frequent and providing them with greater funding. “These government actions always focus on progress and social welfare, understanding innovation as one of the main drivers of improvements in the life of the whole society,” said Pedro Blanco.
