The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the commitment of the Ministry of Education, leadership by Pilar Alegría, with the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits in schools in Galicia. He did so at the CEIP Plurilingual Barrié de la Maza of Santa Comba, where he attended the act of discovery of the plaque of the Seal of Healthy Life, granted by the Ministry to this educational center. In this event, he was accompanied by the mayor of Santa Comba, Alberto Romar; the deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, and the director of the center, César Ramos, as well as teachers and staff.
The delegate valued the work of the CEIP Barrié de la Maza to obtain this seal, which certifies its involvement for the health of its students, both for the present and for the future, and for the educational community as a whole.
He congratulated the school on this achievement, as well as the families and the more than 400 students for their involvement. In addition, the delegate also conveyed his congratulations to the CEIP Barrié de la Maza for its 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated in the next year 2025.
“This is an example that rural schools are at the forefront of public education, more alive than ever, through initiatives such as the Healthy Life Seal, which is a real pride to give you,” said Pedro Blanco. He stressed the importance of this recognition for the future of girls and boys, “because it makes visible the commitment of this center for the improvement of the health of the people who make it up.”
The delegate encouraged the school to continue along this path, “always counting on the commitment of the Government to improve public education in this country by accompanying reference centers such as yours and building, among all, the society of the future.”
Healthy Living Seal
The Healthy Life Seal is a recognition by the Ministry of Education of educational centers, both public and private, that promote the learning of health in the educational field, as well as the assumption of healthy life practices and a physical education that allows the adequate personal and social development throughout the schooling of students.
Created in 2015, the award-winning centers will be able to display the badge at their headquarters and premises and use it in their own documentation, as well as, where appropriate, in their commercial and advertising relationships.
The seal aims to promote the role of education in healthy habits, promote beneficial lifestyles, make students aware of the tools to detect situations of risk to health, promote understanding and assessment of the importance of preserving the environment and encourage the continuous training of the teaching staff who provide service in the center
