The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted the work of the entities of Social Economy in the care of people with disabilities, noting that they are essential to promote a society that advances in social justice, accompanying from the third sector the actions of the Government that “put people at the center of political action”.
The deputy delegate participated this morning in the celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities, organized by the association Amicos in the sports center of Barraña in the city of Boiro, where among other authorities was also accompanied by the mayor of the town, José Ramón Romero.
The subdelegate described the entities that work in the Social Economy as “an example to follow for the whole society”, thus highlighting that in the province of A Coruña there are 98 centers of social initiative that provide service to people with disabilities, in which also work a good part of the 25,000 men and women to whom the sector today employs in Galicia.
The subdelegate wanted to point out that both the entities that implement them, and the people who work in the different centers “are examples of social commitment, promote values that strengthen our democracy, working for inclusion and equality.” A The importance of the work of the entities for social cohesion must also be added territorial cohesion, since many of them carry out their activity in rural areas, to those most affected by the phenomenon of demographic challenge. “A commitment also to strengthening the services of care for people in their environment and to the dynamization of local economies.”
María Rivas, also wanted to point out the permanent commitment of the Government to advance in social justice, hand in hand with the entities of the third sector, noting that this is reflected in the Spanish Strategy of Social Economy and the future Comprehensive Law of the Social Economy. He stressed the importance of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and, in particular, of the Social Economy EERP “which mobilizes more than 1.7 billion euros and with the involvement of ten ministries”.
In this sense, he also highlighted the Comprehensive Plan to Boost the Social Economy for the generation of an inclusive and sustainable economic fabric, which aims to finance the projects of the entities of social economy, through 5 programs.
For projects to maintain and generate employment in viable companies facing difficulties or without generational change, turning them into Social Economy companies managed by their workers; Initiative ES: to create and consolidate innovative entities in the social economy, with emphasis on generational change and youth and female entrepreneurship; Impulsa_TEC: to technologically modernize social economy companies through digital platforms, automation of processes and technological tools, especially in rural areas. Partnership_ES: to promote networks of cooperatives and other forms of social economy, offering new integral services to society. Sostenibles_ES: para impulsar transiciones sostenibles e inclusivas en empresas de economía social, enfocándose en colectivos vulnerables.
This call for proposals for the years 2024 and 2025 is endowed with 80 million euros through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
