The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, stressed the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to place Galicia at the forefront of the transition faced with the new models of sustainable mobility. The delegate visited BorgWarner Vigo today to learn more about the projects he is going to develop thanks to the almost 24 million euros he received in the framework of the second Perte VEC call from the Ministry of Industry, a financing that exemplified the commitment of the Executive “without noise and with real investments” for a sustainable and competitive future for our automotive industry.
Accompanied by the Deputy Delegate of the Government, Abel Losada; the Mayor of the Olivica City, Abel Caballero; the Delegate of the Consortium of the Free Zone of Vigo, David Regades, the fourth lieutenant of the City of Vigo, María José Caride, and different leaders of the company, visited the campus facilities of Zamáns where he valued grants that reflect “the importance of public-private collaboration to achieve the objectives of the green and digital transition in which the electric vehicle plays a fundamental role and becomes a real opportunity for Vigo and Galicia at the hand of the Government.” He also reaffirmed that these contributions are a new example that the funds of the Recovery Plan are transforming the business fabric of Galicia.
Pedro Blanco recalled that “this impulse through the funds of the Recovery Plan is also done here nearby, in the plant of Stellantis Vigo, with more than 50 million of the different PERTES”, while thanking the work of BorgWarner “a reference company, which not only generates wealth and employment, but leads innovation in a strategic sector for our economy and contributes to making Vigo one of the great capitals of Europe of the sector”.
The mayor valued BorgWarner as “a brand that represents excellence in the sector and deserves by its own merit and ability the aid of this PERTE granted by the Government of Spain”. The councilor pledged to continue supporting from the municipal level a company “that is able to compete with the best in the world and win them, so it is a pride for Vigo”.
David Regades congratulated BorgWarner for “building the leadership of the electric vehicle and taking advantage of the opportunity of European funds to advance on this path” while expressing the “maximum willingness to collaborate on the part of the Free Zone of Vigo with the company in all future projects”.
Carlos Castaño, Vice President of Engineering at BorgWarner Turbos & Thermal Technologies, said that “these new investments reflect our firm commitment to research and underline our strategic commitment to the Campus de Vigo, which is once again consolidated as a key reference within the Group.” He added that “this is an opportunity to improve the performance, durability and safety of the components of the electric vehicle.”
Projects
