The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the role of the Region of Barbanza as a “sustainable, modern and respectful” tourist destination through the work carried out in the region by the Government of Spain. Pedro Blanco closed the II Gala of Tourism Barbanza-Arousa, in which the badges of the Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destination (SICTED) were delivered, with which the Ministry of Industry and Tourism certified 49 companies and institutions as promoters of a modern tourism adapted to the current needs of visitors in this territory.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the important work of SMEs, “the best ally of the Government of Spain to structure the country”, for the dynamization of Barbanzano tourism. “The government is aware of the importance of public-private partnerships in the joint advancement of our economy and society, and the SICTED project is the best example of support for SMEs in the tourism sector,” he said.
The delegate also appealed to the shared objectives that the tourism industry and the government have, such as seasonalization or the sustainable and responsible economic impact with nature, “something that we will achieve together, companies and institutions.” Likewise, he took the opportunity to thank the Barbanza-Arousa Community, as well as the municipalities that make up it, for sharing the vision of the Government and being a faithful ally.
The delegate indicated that the impact of the Government on Galician tourism will show the more than 212 million euros invested in it, “deepening in a sector sustainable with the environment, at the forefront when it comes to taking care of the needs of visitors and respectful of the neighborhood and the rest of the productive fabric.
SICTED Certificates
SICTED is a project to improve the quality of tourist destinations promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). It works with tourist services of up to 37 different trades, being able to participate in this initiative all the establishments that are in the circle of tourist consumption, such as transport, accommodation, or travel agencies.
This is the largest tourism quality project developed in Spain, with more than 9,000 participating tourist services, bearing a badge that certifies the level of tourism quality.
It is precisely these certificates that were awarded at the II Gala of Tourism Barbanza-Arousa. Pedro Blanco congratulated the distinguished companies and encouraged them to continue working to make the region a reference in terms of tourism. “This sector knows that it can count, as so far, on the Government of Spain to achieve its goals and advance #face the future,” said the delegate.
