The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, stressed in Santiago that the government will mobilize more than 55 billion euros to modernize the country's SMEs and encouraged Galician businessmen and women not to miss this opportunity. He did it during the opening of the day ‘Galicia: Innovation and digital future in SMEs’, organized by the State Foundation for Training and Employment (Fundae).
In particular, the delegate detailed that this money, which will be managed through the different PERTE and the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Public Function, will be 4.5 billion euros in grants, while another 50 billion euros will correspond to loans and other instruments of the Recovery Plan.
Pedro Blanco said that “never in the history of Spain is such a volume of resources put in place to modernize our productive fabric”, a change of which, he said, “SMEs are called to be the protagonists because of their innovative spirit, the ability to structure the territory and the agility to assume the green transition and digital transformation”.
In that way, he said, “Galician SMEs know that they have the Government of Spain on their side”, as evidenced by the fact that they are the beneficiaries of 40% of the committed funds of the Recovery Plan in Galicia, something more than 1.4 billion euros.
In this sense, Pedro Blanco recalled that programs such as the Digital Kit that, leaving more than 112 million euros in Galicia, have reached more than 27,000 companies and self-employed people in the community. “These are measures that advance in the digitalization of our economy, a commitment of this Government that is already evident in the fact of having its own ministry, that of Digital Transformation and Public Function, and that is also reflected in the way of directing this process: hand in hand with companies, with entrepreneurs and with businesswomen,” he said.
The delegate also cited other initiatives such as the UNICO Program, with more than 100 million euros invested to bring high-speed internet to all corners of the territory before the end of 2025, or the ‘Digital Generation SMEs’ program, which favors the training of 1,300 managers in Galicia in digital skills.
Finally, he called on companies “not to miss this unique opportunity” represented by government funds “to digitize it and transform companies, strengthen their competitiveness and, ultimately, guarantee for them the best future”.
