The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted the impact that the work of the Government has on innovative tourism projects, such as the ‘Camino de Santiago Siglo XXI’, whose presentation ceremony was presided over by her in Santiago de Compostela. María Rivas highlighted the changes that initiatives such as these bring to the tourism model, “allowing us to advance towards a more modern, accessible and respectful one”.
The work of this initiative on the Camino is possible thanks to the financing of the program ‘Experiences Tourism Spain’, which allows to promote in Galicia another 21 innovative products. They directly involve more than 20 companies and institutions, which the Government of Spain supports with almost 3 million euros to carry out their projects. “By supporting this type of project, we are making progress on something that is key for this government: to de-seasonalize tourism and strengthen Spain’s joint offer.”
The deputy delegate stressed the important role that the Government of Spain plays in the Galician tourism sector, “where it has invested more than 212 million euros in the last four years to transform it and make it a sustainable, seasonally and digital industry”. This investment is making possible the modernization of 43 tourist destinations at the Galician level, benefiting half of the municipalities of the Community. In addition, it allows the patrimonial recovery and bet on clean energies, giving rise to an ordered and respectful productive model at all levels.
María Rivas stressed the importance for the future of the Camino a project like this, which combines an artificial intelligence to serve and inform the pilgrim to bridal technological tools for hostels, in addition to five new offices for information to the pilgrim or pilgrim and a new hostel in Madrid to receive international travelers arriving through the airport Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas.
