The Government’s Deputy Delegate in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today presented a new initiative of the Unit against Violence against Women that illustrates the Government’s commitment to the eradication of various violence against women, within the framework of the activities programmed around 25N. This awareness campaign is based on the dissemination of different images displayed in six panels that compile the informative actions of recent years created by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence.
The subdelegate, together with the head of the Unit on Violence against Women, María Luisa Castro, stressed the importance of raising awareness in society about the multiple ways in which gender violence is carried out, “which are not limited exclusively to physical attacks, but which subject women to the other types of violence that are different or even complementary, such as economic, sexual, psychological, etc.”
The subdelegate stressed that “it is time to reflect on the impact that awareness campaigns are having on this issue of state,” affirming that the Government’s commitment is unwavering “and materializes over the years with investments, endowment and expansion of resources, and also through prevention as we can see in all these images disseminated with the objective of reeducating society in egalitarian values.”
Campaigns included in the exhibition
Each panel exhibited in the different offices of the Subdelegation of Lugo is inspired by one of the campaigns of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence (DVGVG) of recent years, reflecting key messages that call for action, non-complicity with the aggressors, the search for and use of available resources, or the joint response of society.
• #Spoiled: A call to society to understand and reject sexual violence, normalized in many respects, and to build a culture based on consent and agreement.
• #You’re going to do something: It seeks that the environment of the victims is actively involved in situations of discrimination or violence, showing social support to women and the solitude of the aggressors.
• #NowYaSpainIs Another: It highlights the social progress in Spain in terms of zero tolerance against male violence, paying tribute to the fight for the freedom and dignity of women.
• #SerLibres. Be Alive. Spain: Raising awareness of all forms of violence against women and promoting the care services available to victims.
• Then Who? : It breaks complicity in acts of violence and seeks to involve men in the eradication of male violence.
• Love Us Alive, Love Us Free: Focused on identifying and rejecting sexual violence and highlighting support and protection resources for victims.
