The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the commitment of the Government of Spain with the Port of A Coruña to what made it the first port in Spain in volume of investments from the Recovery Plan, with 165 million euros allocated by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility. He detailed this during the institutional act of the beginning of the works of extension of the railway access and the internal railway network in Punta Langosteira, which is executed by the Port Authority of A Coruña with funds from the Government Recovery Plan. This event was also attended by the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas.
Of the work that begins today, the delegate pointed out that “it is another milestone of the Government of Spain’s commitment to intermodalidade” and that it occurs in a space “in which the Government is visible in three forms of communication: the road, the port and the railway”.
The internal network of the train in Punta Langosteira will be connected to the railway access, which Adif has been running since 2022 also with funds from the Recovery Plan, to enable the transport of goods from this enclosure with the rest of the territories through the Atlantic Axis. “These actions ensure the future of this external port and, in parallel, the process of urban development of the docks of the city of A Coruña,” said the delegate, who thanked the impetus given to the project over the last 20 years by the managers of the City of A Coruña “especially its current mayor, Inés Rey.”
“This is the best example to the citizens of how collaboration between administrations, national, regional and local, creates opportunities for a territory,” he added, “and how to do it also by counting on companies, working together to consolidate this enclosure.”
Pedro Blanco concluded his speech by recalling that these investments are part of the Government of Spain’s commitment to the integral improvement of communications in the region of A Coruña and “that takes the form of this railway connection, the railway station or the works of Alfonso Molina, which allow us to look with optimism towards a more prosperous and sustainable future”.
