The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, presented this morning at the IES Ramón Cabanillas de Cambados a new edition of the initiative "Improvised Dialectical Disputes for Equality", promoted by the Unit of Violence on Women of the Subdelegation of the Government and directed to schoolchildren in the province. This action is part of the program of activities for the 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The event was attended by, in addition to the deputy delegate, the head of the Violence Unit on Women of the Subdelegation, María José Rodríguez; the territorial head of the Ministry of Education, César Pérez; the director of the IES, Lorena Amarelle, and the secretary of the center, Carmen Mouriño. About thirty students enjoyed this activity, taught by the artist Lupe Blanco, and learned the regueifar with lyrics that celebrate the commitment to full equality between women and men and the active rejection of any form of gender violence.
The activity, which aims to raise awareness among young people in the fight against gender violence and promote equality, will be carried out in three other institutes in the province - in the IES Valadares de Vigo, on November 20; in the IES Pontecaldelas on November 25; and in the IES Pintor Colmeiro de Silleda on November 28 - in which different workshops will be held to promote reflection among schoolchildren on different topics related to male violence.
"At a time when speeches that deny the existence of male violence proliferate, this type of initiative is very important to raise awareness and sensitize young people, who are and must be active and fundamental agents of change," said the subdelegate, who explained that "the success of this activity has a lot to do with the fact that the improvised dialectic dispute fits very well with the type of music that young people listen to today, while offering the resources of the Galician language, our language, to disseminate ideas and concepts related to the permanent fight against male violence and in favor of full equality between women and men."
The program of activities of the Subdelegation on the occasion of the 25N is completed with the exhibition of the documentary Patriarcado, the harmful organism in the cities of Vigo and Vilagarcía de Arousa. The documentary, directed by Teresa Soler and Albert Sanfeliu and which had five candidacies for the Goya Awards in the last edition, will be screened in the Municipal Auditorium of Vigo on November 13 at 8 p.m. and in Vilagarcía on November 14 at 7.30 p.m.
On the other hand, the Subdelegation also initiates, promoted from its Unit of Violence on Women, a new campaign based on collaboration with sports clubs and that this year will focus on the Benxamín and children categories with the distribution of mini-basketball balls among the clubs of the province with a motto that invites to make a “A Mate to Male Violence”. The balls will be distributed during the weekend before the 25-N.
Finally, on Monday, November 25, the Government’s institutional statement will be read, which will be attended by students of the Master’s Degree in Advertising from the Faculty of Communication of the University of Vigo, which is developing a communication campaign under the Government Subdelegation within the framework of a Service-Learning program.
