The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, inaugurated today a training workshop Against Gender Violence organized in collaboration with the Federation of Rural Women's Associations (FADEMUR), in which women from the City of Santiso participated, grouped in the Amurusa Women's Association.
The subdelegate of the Government insisted on the need to bring resources for the fight against gender violence closer to rural municipalities, since gender violence, unfortunately, is present throughout the territory.
In this sense, he pointed out that of the total number of active cases in VioGén in Galicia at the moment, 60% were located in the big cities, that is, in the rural area, that is why it is important to carry out training actions such as this one so that, in collaboration with the associations already present and rooted in the territory, seeking their complicity and involvement so that they can work in the prevention, in the awareness and in the detection of male violence.
María Rivas stressed that activities such as this contribute to making visible and helping to raise awareness of the multiple forms of violence against women, as well as providing information on the resources available to act.
In her speech, María Rivas reported on the resources available for the fight against gender violence, placing special emphasis on the work done both by the Civil Guard and by the Local Police. In this regard, he stressed the importance of rural municipalities that have Local Police, joining the Viogen system, since it allows a more efficient action by the Security Forces and Bodies.
The presentation of the day also included the president of the Association of Rural Women Amurusa, Berta Sangíao; the president of FADEMUR/FADEMUR Galicia, Verónica Marcos and the mayor of the town, Manuel Adan.
The formative part of this activity was in charge of the Head of the Unit against Gender Violence of the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña, Manuela Vilaboy Romero; the head of the CIM of Arzua, Adrian M. Gonçalves Barbosa; and Corporal 1 of the VioGén team, Miguel La. Mosquera.
The activity carried out today in Santiso is framed within an extensive program deployed by the subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña to commemorate the 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Within the 25N program of activities, the subdelegate wanted to highlight those aimed at bringing resources closer to municipalities and young people. Thus he recalled the workshops of affective sexual education, developed in schools of Miño and Negreira; or the activity “Regueifando en Igualada” that reached more than 150 boys and girls of the municipalities of Cedeira, Cee and A Coruña.
There will be two activities dedicated to the training of professionals that will focus on grief and personality disorders in victims of gender violence scheduled for 18 November; or the regime of visits in cases of victims of gender violence, which will take place on 29 November.
In addition, the municipalities of the province will continue to be approached to “Travelling Suitcase against Gender Violence – MAVI” to encourage reading and promote reflection, awareness and awareness about violence against women, equality, and gender stereotypes and roles.
