Pontevedra, October 29, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, inaugurated this morning the First Training Day for Local Police on Protection and Follow-up of Victims of Gender Violence of the Pontevedra Subdelegation. A course that offered “initial information”, sent by the Ministry of Interior, of the new computer application VioGén2, which supports the interface and databases with which security forces and bodies operate.
The deputy delegate congratulated the agents of the local police of Pontevedra, Vigo, Vilagarcía, Sanxenxo, Moaña and Salceda de Caselas who attended this training course “in a matter of first magnitude” and described as “incomprehensible” the absence of 11 of the 17 municipalities in the province that have signed the agreement to accede to the VioGén and that, therefore, receive specific funds from the Pact of State on Gender Violence.
“I want to thank those who are here today, but also to appeal to those who are not, because the municipalities that join the VioGén have duties; to train, update and coordinate with the National Police and the Civil Guard is one of them.” “There is a malaise that exists,” concluded Abel Losada, “because the motivation for these absences goes in a different direction to the problem that concerns us, which is the prevention and fight against gender violence.” The deputy delegate recalled that there are 1,734 women from our province with different protection measures in the VioGén system and the day held today was born as “a professional forum to improve their protection”. The subdelegate stressed that VioGén is not only the name of a program “but something that belongs to everyone and that works thanks to the security forces and bodies; that is why the Local Police are a key piece for its success.”
The course was held at the Pontevedra Civil Guard Command under the coordination of María José Rodríguez, head of the Gender Violence Prevention Unit of the Subdelegation. The Lieutenant-Colonel of the Benemérita, Óscar Grañas, also attended. Losada stressed that even a Local Police from outside the province, such as Xinzo de Limia, did not want to miss the opportunity to approach the new computer environment VioGén2 and to follow the presentations of Belén Trepado, judge dean and holder of Court 4 of Pontevedra; of the head of the UFAM of Vigo, Natalia Feijoo; and of the head of the EMUME of the Civil Guard, Irene García. Officers from the Civil Guard and the National Police also attended.
In addition to explaining the operation of the new VioGén2 computer environment with a practical case made available by the Ministry of the Interior, during the day the details of the first police intervention were addressed in front of a case of violence for the celebration of the oral trial phase. The specific regulations on Gender Violence were also discussed. He also focused on risk police assessments (VPR) for the protection of victims and the evolution of these assessments (VPER). Finally, the different levels of risk (not appreciated, low, medium, high and extreme) and the measures that are associated with them were broken down.
