Pontevedra, October 28, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, informed today the mayor of Tomiño, Sandra González, about the program "The Administration Near You" an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Territorial Policy and by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). This program, which last year reached 33 Pontevedra municipalities with less than 8,000 inhabitants, is now open to municipalities with a higher population, in order to bring and facilitate the implementation of electronic administrative procedures to their neighbors and neighbors.
In addition, this edition seeks to penetrate the territory by bringing the assistance of the staff of the Government Subdelegation in Pontevedra to senior citizens, youth, cultural, sports, neighborhood associations, etc. “In this way,” said Losada, “they will not have to travel to carry out procedures such as obtaining the digital certificate, which allows digital access to numerous public services.” Each meeting will also report on access to the public service charter available and on the advantages, for example, of the Citizens’ Portfolio, whose mobile application was launched by the Government. “All these procedures will be carried out “in situ”, without having to travel to the other municipalities,” said the deputy delegate, while thanking the mayor for her willingness to host this initiative in Tomiño on a date that will be determined soon.
Abel Losada stressed the importance of providing digital tools to the citizens of the smaller municipalities so that they can carry out basic procedures from their homes such as the management of benefits, driving licences, work life certificates or public fee payments, among others. The subdelegate stressed that this initiative “is part of the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to advance territorial cohesion, combat the digital divide and guarantee access to public services to the rural population.”
Security Board
Losada transmitted this information to the mayor in the framework of an Extraordinary Local Security Board held in the Government’s own Subdelegation, with the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Óscar Grañas and other commanders of the Civil Guard and the Local Police, in which different issues related to citizen security in the municipality were addressed.
During the meeting, the deputy delegate assessed the willingness of the City Council to join the VioGén network for the protection of women victims of gender violence. The incorporation of Tomiño would imply that the Local Police would go on to collaborate with the Civil Guard in the monitoring and protection of victims. The municipal body would have responsibility only in cases of low or unappreciated risk that are determined in the protocol of collaboration between the two bodies, once the agreement has been signed with the Secretary of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior.
In the Xunta Local she realized that in this municipality there are 32 active cases of gender violence, with 1 victim of unappreciated risk, 18 with low risk and 13 with medium risk. There are none with high or extreme risk.
