The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, claimed the government’s boost to the social economy and care with an “unprecedented” investment. He did so during the inauguration of the conference 'The ecosystem of the care sector in the province of Pontevedra: legal-labor and sociological reality', organized by the University of Vigo, where he claimed the investments of the PERTE of the Social Economy and Care that already committed 83.7 million euros for Galicia in different lines of aid of a global budget of 800 million.
Pedro Blanco stressed the commitment that the Government of Spain has with the strengthening of the social economy and, in particular, with the social policies around care “because they are the key of the vault that sustains our society, allowing everything else to be possible,” he said.
The delegate stressed the important role of caregivers, especially women who, on the other hand, “maintain multiple family and professional responsibilities, must also take care of their dependent sons, daughters or relatives.”
He stressed that the Government launched this year the first State Strategy that develops a new model of care in the community, to which it endowed 1,300 million euros, and recalled that in 2021 the Executive of Pedro Sánchez modified the decree that regulates the social security contributions of non-professional caregivers (more than 1,500 in the province), allowing to update the contribution base to who reduces their working day and their salaries to care for dependent people.
Pedro Balnco explained that “this effort in favor of the people is accompanied by other milestones such as the increase of the minimum wage or pensions, the impulse in the FP or the creation of the minimum vital income,” he explained.
In this regard, he stressed the importance of “advancing a system of care for the strongest dependency to achieve social conquest,” stressing that “caring for those who care is a priority of this Government and must be a priority of all Administrations.”
