The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the innovative spirit and agility to assume the green transition and the digital transformation of workers and self-employed workers as keys in the change of economic and social model that Galicia is facing with the funds of the Government Recovery Plan.
It did so within the framework of a conference on the impact of green, social and digital transformation on self-employment organized by the Professional Union of Self-Employed Workers (UPTA), in which also participated, among others, the mayor of Vilagarcía and president of the Fegamp, Alberto Varela; the Secretary of State for Migration, Pilar Cancela, the Deputy Director of Digital Kit of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, David Crespo, and the provincial director of the SEPE in A Coruña, Estefanía Pita, in addition to have the presence of the Deputy Government.
In his speech, the delegate said that the government is the best ally of the self-employed, “both good times and bad times.” “We demonstrated it during the pandemic, articulating aid to save jobs, and we do it now, accompanying you in the deployment and transformation of your businesses with the funds of the Recovery Plan,” he said.
This respect, she recalled that self-employment maintains thousands of families in our country and is the basis of the economy. “We talk about farmers, farmers, shellfish farmers and seafarers, transporters, merchants or construction professionals, among others who are opened up new job opportunities by the Recovery Plan, which leaves two out of every five euros in the hands of SMEs and self-employed workers.”
Pedro Blanco explained that “in addition to improving people’s lives, what we want with our actions is for people to have the same opportunities to live where they live.” In this regard, he pointed out that initiatives such as the UNICO Program of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, which plans to bring high-speed internet to 100% of the territory before the end of 2025, “not only favor people living in rural areas, but also make it easier for more people, especially those in self-employment, to develop their work from anywhere and settle in less populated areas.”
The delegate also highlighted the Government’s effort to provide professionals with the necessary tools through programs such as the Digital Kit, which benefits more than 27,000 SMEs and self-employed people in Galicia with more than 112 million euros in aid, or initiatives such as ‘My Citizen Folder’, the app of the Cadastre the Social Security ‘Importass’.
“This is a unique opportunity that we must not miss and you know that you have the government to carry out your projects. Together we can ensure that Spain remains the engine of growth in Europe. By talent and by clear desire, it will not be” concluded Blanco.
