The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, claimed the government’s impulse to science and research to move forward as a society. He did so at the meeting of the Association of Museums and Science and Technical Centers of Spain at the MEGA Museum in A Coruña, where he was accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in the province, María Rivas, and which was attended by the mayor of A Coruña, Inés Rey; the president of the collective, Luis Alcalá, and representatives of MEGA.
Pedro Blanco stressed the commitment that the Government of Spain has to the strengthening of society through science and research, widely appreciated in Galicia with international reference centers such as the Muncyt, located in A Coruña. “It is an institution that mixes knowledge and experience, stimulating people’s creativity,” said the delegate.
It also highlighted the great scientific talent of the community, evidenced a few days ago by the election by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of three researchers from the universities of Santiago and A Coruña as National Research Awards for young people. Pedro Blanco shared the pride of this event and stressed the courage and leadership of the three award-winning women, “which I personally saw yesterday when I met two of them, Beatriz Pelaz and Veronica Bolón”, in the words of the delegate.
He highlighted the need for Galicia and Spain of this type of professionals, “women who are an example for the whole society and who bring a prosperous future, far from all darkness and strengthening all citizens”. In the same way, he stressed the importance of initiatives such as this meeting of the Association of Science and Technical Museums of Spain, as well as the museums themselves, “that turn the wheel of knowledge and, in that way, allow our country to move forward”.
The delegate thanked the choice of A Coruña as a city where to hold this meeting, “something that is not by chance, because here and throughout Galicia things are doing very well in museum matters”. Pedro Blanco put as a best example of this, in addition to the Muncyt saying, the MEGA Museum itself, “which was consolidated as a pioneering center throughout Spain dedicated to the entire brewing industry from a scientific and technical perspective”, as well as the history of the company itself.
