The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided this morning the signing of the protocol of action between the Command of the Civil Guard of A Coruña and the Official College of Veterinarians of A Coruña, for the coordination, support and promotion of training activities in environmental, animal and public health matters.
María Rivas, indicated the importance for the Government of collaborating with the representative entities of the different professional sectors, and that they also represent an improvement in terms of information and coordination of the services that the State Security Forces and Bodies provide to the citizens as a whole.
The protocol was signed by Javier Balado Amado, President of the Official College of Veterinarians of A Coruña and Fernando Pedreira Lata, Colonel Chief of the Command of the Civil Guard of A Coruña.
The subdelegate reported that this protocol was born from the premise of considering animal welfare and food security as fundamental pillars of Public Health.
The main objective is to establish a framework for collaboration that will allow us to work together to strengthen food safety, environmental health and animal welfare policies. All of them are areas of action of the professionals that make up the College of Veterinarians of A Coruña, which have a direct impact on well-being and public health and therefore affect the safety of all citizens where the State Security Forces and Bodies carry out their work.
María Rivas indicated that the protocol establishes different spaces of collaboration that range from the exchange of information to the realization of actions of a formative nature. The document establishes different areas of collaboration. The College of Veterinarians will support the patrols of the Seprona in the upcoming or emergency actions since the common situations already have a very defined protocol. In addition, the exchange of bidirectional information from the Civil Guard Corps to the College and vice versa will be enhanced. so the presence of these professionals in the territory provides very valuable information to develop actions by Seprona. And finally, training actions will also be implemented between both institutions.
This protocol will be valid for four years, and will articulate a follow-up committee for the evaluation of its operation.
This initiative will be carried out in the different provincial commanders of the Galician Community.
