The Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, reviewed today the progress of the Government in labor matters, among which he highlighted the increase in the minimum wage, labor reform and the increase in pensions, and stressed the importance of social dialogue when it comes to conquering new rights that improve people’s lives.
He did so during the inauguration of the day 'Working time: debate and reflection on its limits and rights in collective bargaining', held in the Parador de Santo Estevo and organized by UGT and the SIMA Foundation, in which the general secretary of UGT-Galicia, José Antonio Gómez, and the deputy general secretary of Union Policy, Fernando Luján, also participated.
The delegate said that this government “is doing more for the happiness of workers than any other”, as it bets on a labor market in which the working person “is the center of all policies”. He also indicated that, from the first moment, the Government had as a priority “to end the regressive reform of the PP” of the labor bought and expand the rights, both of workers and pensioners.
Thus, he said, the Government was able to move forward, thanks to social dialogue, agreements such as the increase in the minimum wage, which was revalued by 54% since the arrival of this Government, going from 735.9 euros in 2018 to 1,134 euros today; the extension of the rights of pensioners, with the revaluation linked by law to the increase in prices and with the flexibilization of access to retirement, or the labor reform “to recover the rights of workers, fighting against precariousness and temporality.”
On the other hand, the delegate showed his concern about the evolution of employment in Galicia, with unemployment that last September increased by 1.95% compared to the 0.1% that increased in the State as a whole, and the fall in affiliation, exceeding 7,000 people less in the Social Security lists. “We do not want Galicia to be left behind, so we ask the Xunta to exercise its competences and tackle the problem,” he added.
Pedro Blanco affirmed that the Government of Spain “demonstrated with facts that it is the best ally of companies and workers” and guaranteed that it will continue working in that line, “pursuing new achievements such as the four-day day, the improvement of conciliation and productivity, as well as the progressive increase of salaries”.
