The Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense hosted this morning the presentation of the I Solidarity Race in support of the Association For Them TEA, which the Command of the Civil Guard of Ourense organizes within the week of commemorative events on the occasion of its patron saint, the Virgen del Pilar.
In this presentation, the deputy delegate of the Government, Eladio Santos, highlighted the commitment of this initiative to promote sport, coexistence and support for this association, so he encouraged all Ourensans to participate “in a festive and playful race, made with great enthusiasm”.
For his part, the lieutenant colonel of the Civil Guard Command of Ourense, Rafael Berguillo, thanked the Subdelegation, the Provincial Council and the City of Ourense for their support for this test; and highlighted the great work and dedication in it of the captain of the Civil Traffic Guard, Javier Barja.
He also explained that the event will take place this Sunday, October 6 and consists of three tests, which will run through the center of the city. The first of these starts at 11 a.m., with a 100-metre route from Lamas Carvajal Street for children up to 6 years old. At 11:15 am, it will be the turn of boys and girls between 7 and 12 years old, with a race of 700 meters from the Plaza Mayor. And finally, also in this square, at 11:30 the absolute test will begin.
This activity will be complemented by an exhibition of the media available to the Ourense Command, which will be located in Bishop Cesáreo Square, from 9:30 to 14 hours. It will include 30 personnel belonging to the air service, citizen security unit, nature protection, deactivation and location of explosives, mountain rescue, underwater activities (provided with a rescue boat), canine agents, drones and cavalry.
Finally, the vice-president of the Association For Them TEA Ourense, María Dolores Losada, was very grateful on behalf of the children and parents who make up the association. “Surely it is the first of many, seeing the dedication, enthusiasm, affection and effort they are using,” he said. In addition, he wanted to emphasize the importance of initiatives such as this one to help in the visibility of this collective. “It is a way to make ourselves present again to the neighbors of Ourense to remind them that autism is a reality, that we have to know, value and include. And inclusion is a path that is not easy, so we want to thank these fellow travelers, joining forces to make that future we dream of for our sons and daughters a reality,” he concluded.
The presentation of the race was also attended by commanders José Benito Fernández Santamarina and Rodrigo García de la Rosa; the captain of the Civil Traffic Guard, Javier Barja; and the president of the Association For Them TEA Ourense, Eva Guzmán.
