The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the impulse to the dependency policies that the government is carrying out in Galicia, where it allocated the record figure of 200 million euros during the year 2023, “to strengthen and expand these care services, improving the quality of life of people”. He did so in the act of placing the first stone of the new center of the Brain Damage Association of A Coruña (Adaceco) in the city of Herculina, in which the mayor, Inés Rey, participated; the subdelegate in the province, María Rivas; the provincial deputy, Yoya Neira, in addition to Juan Luís Delgado, president of the association; Carmen Fernández, honorary president; and Natalia de Llano, director of the center.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the government’s effort in terms of dependency, doubling the percentage of transfers in this field in just three years, “because we do not consider it an expense but an investment.” These state funds have a direct impact on the professional care of more than 71,000 Galician and dependent Galicians and their families,
In this regard, the delegate demonstrated the importance for the Government of Spain of appropriate action in matters such as this, “since we are aware of the changes that Galician society will experience in the coming years.” That is why the Government is making “a policy committed to the future and of broad responsibility to the rest of the administrations, especially the municipal ones, which are next to the families every day”.
“Only in this way can an effective service be provided for dependent people and their families, through the best professionals, without whose daily work and effort it would be impossible to cover these people,” said Pedro Blanco, who took the opportunity to highlight the support they have and will have from the government.
The new center of Adaceco
Pedro Blanco thanked the Adaceco for its deep involvement and continued work for more than two decades to provide people with acquired brain damage with a first-class care service in the city of A Coruña. “This good work is going to continue and even move forward with the new center, which will be a guarantee for any neighbor or neighbor from Cordoba who needs it,” said the delegate.
“We will continue to promote healthy lifestyle habits that prevent vascular accidents and also raise awareness among road users, through traffic campaigns, to avoid accidents that not only cause serious injuries, but also lead lives,” insisted the government representative.
The organization works to improve the quality of life of people with brain damage and their families through neurorehabilitation therapies. In Galicia #calculate that there are about 7,000 affected by brain damage, 1,000 of them in the area of A Coruña. This disease is the second leading cause of death in men and the first in women.
The new property, from which the first stone is laid, will be available before the end of 2026. The new thirst will be center of day and will have outpatient care for 130 users, with therapies scheduled three times a week.
