The Government’s deputy delegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted the Government’s commitment to promote and strengthen a new tourism model, based on sustainability, digitalization and added value by supporting projects such as “Camino Frances. Camino 360º”, which is committed to digitization and the creation of digital information services around the Camino Frances a Compostela.
María Rivas, participated today in the official presentation of this initiative, which has the financing of almost 1 million euros from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, within the Government Recovery Plan.
The subdelegate pointed out that this project is an example of the process of transformation of the tourism sector promoted by the Government remembering that we are facing “historical investments of this Government in the transformation of tourism in Galicia, of 200 million euros in four years”.
María Rivas indicated that “Camino Frances. Camino 360º is a project that is committed to digitization, information, artificial intelligence”, which will undoubtedly provide “a plus for walking people, but also a powerful tool for tourism managers”.
The subdelegate recalled that more than 3,100,000 people traveled the Camino Frances since 2003, to know their natural wealth and heritage. She also wanted to highlight that 53% of the people who carry out any of the Xacobe routes are women, and in many cases, they do the road alone.
Experiences Tourism Spain
During her speech, the subdelegate recalled the commitment to the improvement of tourism along the Camino de Santiago, betting on diversification, seasonalization and the creation of synergies capable of activating local economies.
This is evidenced by the commitment to the Experiences Tourism Spain Program, of which “Camino de Europa” is part, an initiative of the Government to improve the tourism offer of Spain, promoting innovative and transformative initiatives at the national level to promote them in international markets. The program is part of the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and includes a line of aid to promote these experiences throughout the territory and is already going through the second call.
In the two years since its launch, the Ministry of Industry awarded about 3 million euros to 28 companies, municipalities and entities in Galicia for their participation in 19 innovative tourist experiences.
