The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, pointed out today as “challenges” for Galicia to gain in progress and well-being in combination of institutional lealtade and collaboration between administrations, the completion of the Government Recovery Plan and the achievement of new State Budgets. He did so during his speech at the forum ‘The Economic Challenges of Galicia’, organized by the newspaper El País, which was held at the Hostal de los Reis Católica and in which also intervened, among others, the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda; the mayor of Santiago, Goretti Sanmartín, or the president of the Diputación de A Coruña, Valentín González Formoso. The event was attended by the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas.
In his speech, the delegate detailed these three lines of action for the coming years. The first of these is institutional loyalty and collaboration between administrations and companies. Pedro Blanco, called for “leaving aside the cry and disqualification” to work “all together and with the will to cooperate” to give better answers to the needs exposed by the productive sectors of our society, he said.
In this regard, he warned of the risk of not having budgets next year and appealed to all political forces “to agree and make possible the accounts that this country needs.” “If we do not approve the spending ceiling, Galicia loses 422 million euros and someone would have to explain it later to the Galicians and Galicians,” he warned.
He also stressed the importance of the funds of the Government Recovery Plan, which already has committed in Galicia about 3.5 billion euros. “There are already 37,000 beneficiaries, 43% microenterprises and SMEs, a fact that demonstrates the capillary nature of this aid that reaches all corners of Galicia,” he informed the delegate.
“They are funds to support the Galicia of the future that we want, a modern and competitive Galicia, that looks to you from any region or community of Europe; to transform Galicia and make the leap to the Champions of the European Union,” argued Pedro Blanco, who stressed that it is not money at discretion, that there is a distribution that responds to clear criteria and objectives. “We cannot give meaningless money or squander this historic opportunity,” he said.
“We have future challenges that we can face with guarantees, we work with institutional loyalty and collaboration between administrations and companies. We have 3.5 billion opportunities and the possibility of strengthening it with good budgets, and we have to do so knowing that economic challenges and social challenges go hand in hand. Only in this way will it be possible to achieve the double goal of more progress and more well-being,” he concluded.
The delegate included in his speech a request to the president of the Xunta de Galicia a few hours before he meets in Madrid with the president of the Government. To this respect, he asked him to face this meeting thinking about Galicia and the real interests of the citizens and with the same lealtade that the Government showed these years with the Community.
