The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, attended this morning the presentation of the program of activities of education and road safety that the General Directorate of Traffic, together with Civil Protection, have been unwinding each school year in the rural schools of early childhood education, primary and groups of the province.
As an example of the inter-administrative collaboration between the State and the Xunta de Galicia, and of the commitment of both to road safety, during the month of September will be offered to the educational centers the activities that will be organized throughout the course 2024/2025 and that, as in previous years, include three proposals to be made on the same day. First, a circuit with traffic material that installs and supervises Civil Protection, and that schoolchildren perform with bicycles, scooters and helmets. Secondly, a talk about a subject of special interest to the center (such as the use of bicycles, safety for pedestrians, etc.). And finally, an exhibition of means of surveillance and emergencies.
“Road education is an important reference as a preventive element to avoid accidents and achieve appropriate behaviors in adult life, so this type of programs are an investment for the future and are news that we are proud to give as participating institutions because they have a medium- and long-term result that reverses the well-being of the citizen. Prevention and education are better than punishment,” said the deputy delegate.
Road education activities have been included since the past year in the Master Plan for the Improvement of Coexistence and Safety in Educational Centers and their environments, which are also jointly developed by the State and the Xunta de Galicia.
Course balance 2023/2024
