The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the firm commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the Galician wine sector, which materializes in the more than 10 million euros that have just been approved for programs to support the sector. On a visit to the Attis Winery, located in the Meañesa parish of Dena, Pedro Blanco explained that these funds from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, come from being authorized at the Sectoral Conference of Agriculture and Rural Development and will be transferred to the Autonomous Community to promote different measures for the wine sector included in the Wine Sector Intervention (ISV).
Thus, more than 3.6 million are in vain for the restructuring and conversion of vineyards, with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the sector, reducing production costs and facilitating its adaptation to the challenges of environmental improvement, within the framework of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
On the other hand, Galicia will have more than 6.5 million euros of the second call for aid for investments of the Wine Sector Intervention. They are aimed at improving wine facilities and infrastructures, as well as the marketing instruments for wine products. More than 4.6 million will be transferred in 2025 and the remaining 1.9 million will be transferred in 2026.
The government delegate was accompanied on the visit by the government subdelegate in Pontevedra, Abel Losada; by the mayor of Meaño, Carlos Viéitez, and by the owner of Attis, Robustiano Fariña. In the course of the meeting he stressed that this aid demonstrates the “total commitment of the Government of Spain in the defense of the agricultural sector and its professionals, who produce products of the highest quality such as those that we are meeting today in this winery”.
At the same time, Pedro Blanco recalled that the Argoalimentary PERTE, which mobilized in the first call 54 million euros, also financed business initiatives of which several Galician wineries are part. Specifically, the Graperte project, in which Martín Códax, Terras Gauda and Viña Costera participate, received contributions of 5.2 million.
The Agri-Food PERTE will open the second call in just over a week with another 300 million in support of the sector, of which 100 are in vain for subsidies and 200 for loans.
Finally, Pedro Blanco referred to the 25 million euros of support for Galicia, through the Sectoral Intervention of the Vineyard, the plans of response to the drought and war in Ukraine or through the various tourism programs linked to the wine and agri-food sector, among others.
For the government delegate “the Galician wine sector is a power within Spain, which will continue to have the support it deserves from this Government”.
Vintage
Pedro Blanco visited Attis Bodegas and Vineyards in the middle of the harvest and took the opportunity to value the quality of the wines of the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin “which are a sign of identity of Galicia beyond our borders”. Thus, he claimed the “magnificent work” carried out by the winegrowers of the Salnés region, where 70% of the wine of this denomination is produced and which, as the delegate said, “is evident in this winery”. Pedro Blanco showed to end the desire that “the good expectations of this harvest will be met and that some magnificent wines will be obtained that will have the support of this Government”.
