The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted in Melón the more than 42 million euros received by the community for the digitalization and modernization of the sanitation networks of villas and cities within the framework of the PERTE of the Water Cycle. He did so during a visit to the Concello, where he was received by its mayor, Emilio Díaz, who was also assisted by the subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos.
During the session, the delegate explained that Melón is one of the concellos who are listed as beneficiaries in the provisional resolution of the second call, which leaves 16.24 million euros in Galicia. In particular, Melón will receive, together with other municipalities of Ourense and Pontevedra –A Cañiza, O Carballiño, Mondariz, Mondariz-Balneario and Maside–, 5 million euros, about 500,000 a concello, to achieve a more efficient use of water, improve the management of supply and achieve greater levels of savings of this natural good. “An investment that will improve the quality of the waters, the natural environment and, ultimately, the life of Melón’s neighbors,” said the delegate.
“Adding the aid of the first call; the aid transferred to the Xunta through a sectoral conference, and the 183,000 euros for the digitalization of the irrigation of the Limia of another provisional award known last week, the investment in Galicia of the PERTE of water exceeds 42 million euros,” said Blanco, who recalled that Ourense “is one of the provinces that benefits most from the PERTE of water”. In this sense, Pedro Blanco reported that the province receives aid because it exceeds 15 million euros, “that is, one out of every three euros of the 42 million that Galicia receives comes to this province, a further sign of the commitment of this Government with Ourense and Melón”.
The delegate took advantage of the meeting to review with the mayor other actions of the Government in the locality, with investments that exceed one and a half million euros for the replacement of the lighting of the municipality by a more efficient one, the cleaning of the river courses by the Mi⦅⦆ -Sil Hydrographic Confederation, or the implementation of the Tourist Sustainability Plan ‘Ribeiro-O Carballiño. “These actions and those that will come are an example of the Government’s effort to improve the lives of all citizens and to make the funds of the Recovery Plan reach all Galician municipalities,” the delegate concluded.
