The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, attended today the presentation of three new ecoboats that will sail in the nautical facilities of Castrelo de Miño. This is the Xouva 4.90 model, an electric boat that is unconsumable, silent and non-polluting, perfect for the practice of ecological and sustainable nautical tourism.
Acquisition included in the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Ourense Termal, executed by the Provincial Council and framed within the general strategy of the Secretary of State for Tourism, with which the Government of Spain intends to transform the sector and adapt it to the needs of the 21st century.
This strategy seeks the end of two major problems of traditional tourism. On the one hand, spatial concentration, since the enclaves linked to sun and beach tourism concentrated most of the resources and tourist flows. And, on the other hand, to de-seasonalize tourism, so that the sectors linked to it develop beyond the summer season.
In this sense, in recent years the State Secretariat of Tourism has created specific lines of funding, financing and development of rural areas, which give rise to sustainability plans such as the Ourense Termal, for which it made a contribution of 1,350,000 euros (of the 3 million that make up its total budget).
In addition, the state strategy provides for co-governance with other public administrations. In this case, with the Tourism Agency of Galicia and with the Provincial Council of Ourense, the latter in charge of the execution.
During the presentation of the new ecoboats, the subdelegate of the Government highlighted the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Ourense Termal “its innovative and transversal character, which encompasses up to 15 municipalities of the province, with which it develops a large space of tourist activities in different areas, which entails a more integral economic development from the tourist resources”.
Likewise, Eladio Santos explained that this state initiative “aims to respond to the needs and preferences of the 21st century tourist who is not just looking for a tourist space, but to enjoy the indigenous environment, public resources linked to the territory and, above all, unique experiences, and from there sustainability plans offer very versatile resources.
In the case of Ourense, in addition to enjoying the thermalism, you can also enjoy sports tourism in the Castrelo de Miño reservoir, adventure tourism, our natural and artistic heritage and, of course, an excellent gastronomy, which includes wine tourism”.
The subdelegate did not want to end without congratulating the Provincial Council “for its excellent execution of this Plan, which is in full operation and will be able to attract private investment, which is the one that has to promote and dynamize, from the tourist engine, other sectors, as well as the economy of the interior, the rural world, fix population and fight against depopulation”.
