The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the role of SMEs and entrepreneurs in the process of modernizing the economy and the productive fabric of Galicia in partnership with the Government of Spain and with the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. This was highlighted in Santiago during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Awards ceremony for the best SMEs in the province of A Coruña. These awards, in the form of a prize for the best SME of the year and three accésits, are awarded jointly by the directives of the Chambers of Commerce of A Coruña and Santiago.
Pedro Blanco detailed that, until now, the Recovery Plan committed 3,400 million euros in investments in Galicia, of which 1,844 million were managed by the State Administration and 1,545 million were transferred to the Xunta de Galicia to execute within the framework of its competences.
The delegate put SMEs as an example of how to take advantage of the funds of the Recovery Plan, highlighting that 40% of the total beneficiaries of the different calls for aid in Galicia were precisely microenterprises and SMEs. In total there were 16,269 beneficiaries who “knew how to use these funds to face new businesses, invest in better working and technological conditions and gain more competitiveness,” said Pedro Blanco.
New funding lines through the Recovery Plan
The Government delegate showed his conviction that Galician companies will take advantage of the new lines of financing that, within the framework of the Recovery Plan, the Government presented this week to “face new business challenges and to consolidate and modernize those that are already in place”. In particular, they are two new instruments, “ICO Verde” and “ICO Companies and Entrepreneurs”, which make more than 30 billion euros of funding available to the business community. The delegate highlighted the “very advantageous” conditions that these new lines will offer and the facilities that will be given to formalize the requests.
The “ICO Verde” Line will have EUR 22 billion to finance projects of companies of all sizes and households with the aim of boosting the green transition.
For its part, the Line “ICO Companies and Entrepreneurs” will be endowed with 8,150 million euros and aims to finance projects that enhance the growth and resilience of Spanish companies, especially smaller companies.
