During the event, in which the Superior Chief of Police of Galicia, Ramón Gómez Nieto, and the Deputy Delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, also participated, Pedro Blanco indicated that, “if today we live in democracy and with the degree of freedom and tranquility that we enjoy, it is for the effort of all, but especially of the State Security Forces and Bodies.”
He also took the opportunity to convey to the families of the victims all their affection and point out that, “although their loss has no consolation, it does have the infinite gratitude of a society that now lives in peace thanks to their work and their dedication.”
In this regard, he recalled that Galicia is the third safest community in Spain and one of the territories with the best figures in Europe thanks to the work of the approximately 3,400 national police men and women who carry out their work in the community in the defense of the rights and freedoms of citizens, professionals whom he encouraged to “continue strengthening this Spain, this open, egalitarian and inclusive Galicia, to guarantee spaces of coexistence, freedom and respect”.
