A few days ago, the deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, and the mayor of Brión, Pablo Lago Sanmartin, visited several parishes in Brión where public lighting will be replaced through the IDAE aid program for unique projects for the renovation of municipal outdoor lighting facilities.
The subdelegate stressed that the aid granted amounts to 2,770,900 euros, an amount with which the city of Brión aims to act on a total of 3,118 points of light, and review 110 command centers, incorporating remote management systems for the control of the facilities at all times.
The action consists of the replacement of traditional type luminaires by LED type luminaires of greater performance and efficiency, thus renewing the public lighting.
Another of the objectives that will be achieved with this aid is the reduction of electricity consumption by 65% while acting in favour of the environment, with a considerable reduction also in CO2 emissions.
María Rivas, put Brión as an example of the Government’s commitment to small municipalities, “which are called to be protagonists of the transformation of Spain towards a green, digital, sustainable and cohesive country, to achieve the objectives of the demographic challenge”.
It is in this same line, that of betting on the green transition, in which is framed this aid granted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Energy Diversification IDAE. “It is 2.7 million euros that will help the government of Brión face the energy improvement of the municipal lighting of the City Council, an action that will also mean significant economic savings for the city, and all this is done within the framework of the collaboration and institutional cooperation that marks the action of the Government.”
María Rivas stressed the importance of undertaking this type of improvement, since it results in a better service for the entire neighborhood, which undoubtedly favors the settlement of the population in the most rural municipalities, and also helps small and medium-sized enterprises to opt for these municipalities to establish themselves.
“The Government is committed to supporting rural municipalities in improving their services and infrastructures, as they are essential to encourage the population to stay and make their vital project in them. We are making it compatible with improving services, with the ecological transition and with the fight against depopulation, and we also do it under the respect and maximum collaboration between institutions.” The deputy delegate insisted that “it is about guaranteeing the people who live in the small municipalities a future in which they have the same opportunities.”
In this call, the municipalities of Fene, Val do Dubra, Betanzos, Tordoia, Moeche and Brión were awarded in the province, amounting to 6,638,392.52 euros for all of them.
