The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, inaugurated this morning the Violeta Points of the SEPE in the offices of A Cañiza and Lalín. The subdelegate stressed that with the implementation of this initiative “in these two headquarters that are so representative of the rural territory in the province”, the accession of the 17 offices of the province to this program, which seeks to offer safe places to women victims of male aggression, culminated.
Abel Losada valued the importance of this initiative, which reinforces “the change of focus in public policies of attention to victims promoted by the Government of Pedro Sánchez and which aims to effectively involve all Public Administrations, and the whole society, in the fight against gender violence.” In this regard, the subdelegate stressed that from today the offices of the SEPE “not only in the cities, but also in the towns of the province, such as A Cañiza and Lalín” will be a “safe and supportive place” for all women who suffer any expression of gender violence. The launch of this service was also attended by the provincial director of SEPE, Teresa Rama, the provincial deputy director of Management, Pepa Gómez, and the heads of the local offices of A Cañiza and Lalín, Isabel Alonso and María Jesús González.
Losada thanked “the involvement of all SEPE personnel in the province, and especially its director, in the fight for equality and for the prevention of male violence, by making possible an initiative such as this, which allows to deploy and provide resources to all people, and there are many, who attend these offices.”
The subdelegate stressed the need “for a firm commitment by all administrations, and society as a whole, to deal with male violence, which is related to others such as the wage gap or economic exclusion, which are often risk factors that contribute to increasing the vulnerability of victims.”
In this regard, Losada explained that the creation of these Violeta Points in the offices of the SEPE is a success because the employment offices are a good place to bring women who may be in a vulnerable situation closer to information they need about the resources and support that the Government mobilizes and makes available.
Each of the points placed in the offices of the province will be identified as such and will have a QR code that will be linked to the Violeta Point Guide, with information on how to act in cases of aggression, resources for victims and information of interest to know how to identify machista attitudes and put a stop to them. These resources are part of the catalogue of urgent measures promoted by different ministries in the context of male alarm in recent months.
