The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided this morning at a meeting of the Provincial Security Board with the aim of finalizing the operation for the elections to the European Parliament that will be held next Sunday, June 9.
The meeting was attended by officials from the National Police, the Civil Guard and the local police of the three cities, and a review was made of the logistical operation that will be deployed to guarantee the electoral process in the province of A Coruña.
In the next European elections, a total of 1,089,174 voters and electors will be able to exercise their right to vote in the province of A Coruña. In addition, 8,364 are girls and boys who vote for the first time on their 18th birthday since the last elections held on February 18th,
Regarding logistics, the subdelegate stressed that A Coruña will have 1,517 polling stations distributed in 887 polling stations throughout the 93 municipalities of the province. These tables will be attended by 4,551 people who will be part of them, who will settle in the first hour of the morning with the people entitled, or if they do not appear, with the alternates.
María Rivas, in view of the data provided in the course of the meeting, said that the security device for the electoral day, by the National Police and Civil Guard, will have a total of 2,375 personnel to which are added the 1,008 people representatives of the administration that will also support the electoral day, adding a total of 3,383 people.
The work will begin the previous day by making a requisition at the Provincial Electoral Xunta, by the National Police. Already on the day of the elections both the National Police and the Civil Guard and the local police - in a coordinated way - will proceed to make a requisition in each of the 887 premises prior to the start of the voting time, it will be from 7:00 a.m. with the aim of ensuring the opening in conditions of all of them; in case of detected incidents such as graffiti or the obstruction of locks will be required to the municipal cleaning service or a lockout service. There will also be a visual recognition of the environment of the voting centers.
Both the National Police and the Civil Guard will deploy patrols throughout the day, which in the case of PN will be static and will be permanently in the voting centers, and by GC will be dynamic patrols that will make a tour of the different premises authorized to vote.
On the part of the National Police, there will also be a permanent endowment in the Provincial Electoral Board to respond to incidents and their requests.
The deputy delegate recalled that the human deployment carried out by the subdelegation in the province is crucial for the optimal development of the electoral process. From the logistical support necessary for the exercise of the vote to the transmission of data of participation and scrutiny on the day of the elections.
In this regard, the subdelegate of the Government wanted to highlight the involvement of the State Security Forces and Corps, its work will focus on facilitating that from the first hour of the morning until the schools close, everything works and runs with absolute normality in order to guarantee the right to vote of all citizens in this important meeting with the ballot boxes.
Of the 1,089,174 people who make up the total of the electoral census, 923,164 correspond to the census of electors and voters residing in Galicia (CER) while 166,010 are people from the electoral census of residents abroad (CERA).
