The Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today extended the Government’s hand to the sector and entities of the Social Economy of Galicia to modernize the economy “that puts people at the center” and consolidate the advances in social justice that the Government promoted in recent years. He did so during the celebration of the Day of the Galician Social Economy, which is organized today in Santiago by the Forum for the Galician Social Economy (Foro Esgal).
The delegate described the Social Economy as “an example for the whole of society” and extended this qualification to the 25,000 men and women employed today by the sector in Galicia: “You are an example of the values that strengthen our democracy, such as inclusion and equality.” Regarding these companies, he also pointed out their added value in Galicia, giving employment and economic activity to rural areas, most affected by the phenomenon of the demographic challenge. To this commitment to the local, he also added how to strengthen the resilience “that they carry in their DNA as a distinctive and meritorious seal”.
Agreement and dialogue
Pedro Blanco stressed that the Government shares the same values as the Social Economy, and “for the first time, this concept is part of the denomination of a Ministry.” In his speech he reviewed the normative and budgetary milestones related to this subject, such as the Spanish Social Economy Strategy and the future Comprehensive Law of the Social Economy, “very demanded to adapt that legislation to the new realities of entities and companies in the sector.”
The delegate was convinced that the same consensus that made possible the reform of article 49 of the Constitution will be the basis that allows progress in the regulation of the Social Economy and in the modernization of the sector. In this modernization, he stressed the importance of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and, in particular, of the Social Economy EERP “which mobilizes more than 1.7 billion euros and with the involvement of ten ministries.”
The Social Economy PERTE materializes, among other lines, in calls for aid for the modernization of the sector, which is managed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy. In the success of this strategic plan, “the entities, cooperatives and employment centers are the indispensable protagonists”, as are the Recovery Plan as a whole “where 80% of the recipients of aid are SMEs and companies”.
