The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, stressed the importance of bringing the means available to the State Security Forces and Corps to the schools and institutes of the province closer to the schoolchildren. He did so during an exhibition that the National Police organized this Thursday at the Coliseum of A Coruña, within the framework of the Master Plan of Education and the events for its bicentenary, and which was attended by schoolchildren from 30 schools in the city and its metropolitan area.
María Rivas took advantage of this event, which brought together nearly 3,000 schoolchildren, to thank the National Police for the great educational work that, together with the Civil Guard and local police, they carry out with young people within the framework of the Master Plan for the improvement of coexistence in educational centers and their environments, coordinated by the Government Subdelegation. In this regard, he recalled that last year this plan reached 359 schools and 41,509 participating attendees, of which 38,180 were students and students.
During the exhibition, the Corunnese schoolchildren were able to see in the field the agents of the different units of the National Police, who carried out several simulation exercises of risk situations in which the canine guides unit, the Tedax, the prevention and reaction unit and the cavalry unit participated.
María Rivas recalled that coordination between the State Security Forces and the educational community to carry out activities in schools is key to combating addictions (drugs, alcohol, attributions, video games); violence against women, sexual and hate crimes, filio-parental violence or other dangerous behaviors related to intellectual property, personal data, nature protection or road safety, among others.
In this sense, he pointed out that, of the 1,920 activities carried out last year within the framework of the Master Plan in the province (4,200 throughout Galicia), the majority were developed in the field of cybersecurity and access to new information technologies, with a total of 1,512 actions, followed by those related to bullying, with 1,057 activities carried out in this field in the last year.
The subdelegate encouraged the associations of mothers and fathers of public centers, and especially those of private and concerted centers, which since this year can also join, to continue participating in these activities. “Only in this way can we ensure that our youth grow up in a safe environment and are prepared to face the threats of our society,” he concluded.
