The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco presided over the event for Private Security Day, in which he valued the position of Galicia as the third autonomous community with the lowest crime rate in Spain and thanked the private sector “for its joint work with that of public security so that Galician society enjoys tranquility in its day to day”. Continuing with this idea, the delegate encouraged the professionals present and not present at the event to continue working hard “to eliminate the room for improvement still existing in the community, something in which they have the full commitment of the Government”.
The event was attended by the sub-delegates of the Government in A Coruña and Lugo, María Rivas and Isabel Rodríguez; the Superior Chief of Police of Galicia, Ramón Gómez Nieto, the Chief General of the 15 Zone of the Civil Guard, Miguel Ángel González; the President of the Association of Security Companies of Galicia, Roberto Lage; the territorial delegate, Belén do Campo; and the Councilor of Citizen Security, Montserrat Paz.
Pedro Blanco highlighted “the effort to adapt to social needs” made by companies and private security professionals, who are often SMEs or self-employed workers. He also put on the table the work that is carried out in professional training and, in this regard, recalled the creation of the Intermediate Degree of Professional Training in Security Technician, “something with which the Government met the need of the sector and I have the confidence that very soon it will be able to be integrated into the Galician educational offer.”
In this field, the delegate stressed the importance of training to address the new security challenges that have been emerging for some years, emphasizing the threat of technological crime. “The fight against them is a clear case of convergent work between public and private security, at the same time as a common point in which to continue learning hand in hand.”
A tribute to private security
Held at the Teatro Colón in A Coruña, the tribute aimed to recognize the work of all professionals in the sector and to thank, in a special way, those who stood out for their work, dedication and collaboration with public security in the last year. 100 honorable mentions were given to personnel in the field of private security who for different reasons in the past year deserved the mention.
Among the events that were highlighted during the event were the collaboration between private security and agents of the Mobile Police Brigade in transport, in different services, such as active participation in the prevention of graffiti on trains, among others.
