The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the Galician language as an essential value that covers the whole of society, “an element of union that defines us and makes us unique and of which we must feel very proud”. This was pronounced during the event organized by the Delegation of the Government to commemorate the beginning of the week das Letras Galegas, an event dedicated this year to the writer from Cordoba Luísa Villalta in the year in which it is 20 years since her death.
The event consisted of the reading of an anthology of poems by the writer from Cordoba who headed the government delegate and in which the Deputy Secretary General of the Delegation, Eva Vázquez, also spoke; the provincial director of Muface, Natalia Álvarez; the vice-dean of the College of Journalists, Marcos Sanluis; the vice-president of the Association of the Press of A Coruña, Amalia Baltar; the general secretary of the Delegation, Alberto de la Fuente; the official of the Delegation Eva Naval and the agent of Transition Núria. The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas was in charge of reading the last of the poems.
With this act, the Government Delegation wants to show its commitment to the defense and enhancement of the Galician language and culture and, at the same time, to give voice to one of the great figures of Galician literature, Luísa Villalta.
