The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, inaugurated this morning “The Sober Meeting”, a conference organized by CESUGA to promote the development of the rural environment through dialogue between industry, field, university and public sector. He presented this initiative accompanied by the provincial deputy of Economic and Social Promotion, Pablo Rivera; the conselleira de Medio rural, Mª José Gómez; the mayor of Sober, Raquel Arias; the president of the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Lugo, Eduardo Valí; and the president of the Governing Council of CESUGA, Venancio Salcines.
Isabel Rodríguez thanked the Centre for Higher University Studies of Galicia and all collaborating entities “for the creation of these conferences to talk about industry-rural synergies, but also to talk about us, about the Galicia of the interior, entrepreneurial, hardworking and with infinite possibilities”.
He defended the need to “join efforts to realize the potential of the rural in key projects that dynamize the territory at an economic and social level”, highlighting the potential of the region and the province “in all sectors, from forestry to dairy, from meat to wine”.
In front of an audience of more than 400 people, the Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo was “completely sure that all the people who are here today share a conviction: the rural has a future, has a future and we all work together for it”. He stressed that this space for dialogue “provides the opportunity to listen to experiences and contributions from different sectors from an academic, business, trade union or public management perspective”.
In his address, he also mentioned the candidacy of the Ribeira Sacra for UNESCO World Heritage, “the definitive impulse to the diversification and seasonalization of tourism in the region”. He concluded his speech by pointing out the importance of “advancing the economic development of the Galicia of the interior, to work for territorial cohesion, putting a stop to depopulation and betting on a green and digital transition”.
