The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, celebrated that the Pazo de Mevas, also known as the Mevas Towers, regains the cultural atmosphere that permeated this space when it was ordered to be built by Mrs. Emilia Pardo Bazán. He did so during the presentation of the book ‘Benito Pérez Galdós. Unpublished letters: about him theater, along with other letters from Emilia Pardo Bazán’, by Adelina Batlles, which collects part of the personal correspondence that the Countess of Pardo Bazán crossed with the writer, an act that was led by the journalist of the SER network Marta González Novo and also attended by the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas.
In this regard, the delegate stressed that the letters between Mrs. Emilia Pardo Bazán and Benito Pérez Galdós “return in book form to the place where they were written decades ago” and affected the fact that, “in addition to highlighting the figure of Pérez Galdós and the influence that Pardo Bazán had in his life, we demand the recovery of this space that, like Mrs. Emilia, is part of the culture and identity of our country”. “A heritage of which we are truly proud,” he said.
Pedro Blanco thanked the County Council of A Coruña and its president, Valentín González Formoso, for the collaboration in organizing this type of events, “which promote and value the rich Galician cultural heritage”, as well as the mayor of Sada, Benito Portela, for the reception in the council.
