The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, thanked the altruistic will and social commitment of the radio amateurs who collaborate with Civil Protection during the ceremony of delivery of diplomas granted to members who are part of the National Emergency Radio Network (REMER) of the province. The event, held this morning in the Government Subdelegation, was attended by five of the eleven people honored this year: Enríquez Fernández Fraga, José R. Lorenzo Fernández, Urbano L. Enríquez Arias, Jesús Manuel Rodríguez Iglesias and Jose R. Maseda Lafuente.
Isabel Rodríguez conveyed on behalf of the Government “a special recognition and gratitude for making your time and knowledge available to all Lucenses in emergency situations, always being present when society needs you”. This respect underscored the progressive training and professionalization of its members to guarantee the best attention and response in the field of citizen security.
In the words of the subdelegate, the REMER “has a fundamental role in supporting Civil Protection, not only as an alternative and complementary system of communications but also as an element that captures relevant information on any crisis situation.” He added that “although technological advances are emerging, radio remains a fundamental working tool, demonstrating its effectiveness in emergency situations such as blackouts, interference or coverage deficiencies.”
The subdelegate explained that the event seeks the objective year after year “to pay tribute to the people who are part of the REMER, allowing it to preserve its spirit of solidarity in an exemplary manner.”
