The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo, has highlighted the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez for the rehabilitation of the heritage linked to the Paradores de Turismo, which translates in Galicia into a historical investment of more than 35 million in the Community. This unprecedented investment translates into works of heritage rehabilitation and improvement of environmental sustainability in six establishments of Paradores in Galicia and are part of two plans: the Strategic Plan of Paradores 2023-2026 and the Plan executed by Turespaña for the restoration of the BIC in Paradores de Turismo, financed with the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Morillo, accompanied by the government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, supervised this week the rehabilitation works of the BIC linked to the Hostal dos Reis Católica, in Santiago de Compostela. There it has meant that the Government reserves 22.7 million euros for actions to improve the most emblematic establishment of the Network in Galicia, of which the first 10.5 million are already in execution.
Morillo has visited the Parador just over a year after his last stay in Santiago. At that time, the Secretary of State advanced the imminent beginning of the works, which respond to the Master Plan of Conservation of this historic building. This first project began in the Royal Chapel, as it was the space that needed a more urgent intervention, and aims to remove all the moisture that affected the ornamentation and improve the conservation of limestone.
Along with the conservation of the Chapel, the performance in the Parador de Santiago contemplates the restoration of the facades to the Plaza del Obradoiro and San Francisco Street, in order to improve the humidity problems. The Renaissance courtyards and the historic eaves of the facades will also be rehabilitated.

The Secretary of State pointed out that the investments of the Government in the Paradores de Galicia will also make it possible to improve its offer adapting it to the demands of current tourism, which demands an offer with less environmental impact, and favoring its resilience.
Together with the Parador de Santiago, the Government will also act in the Parador de Baiona, with 8.1 million expected; in the Parador de Monforte, with more than 1.5 million; Santo Estevo, with 1.47 million; Vilalba, with 1.14 million and Ferrol, with 169,000 euros.
