The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted the Government’s commitment to Galician companies for the modernization and improvement of their airports. It did so during the visit to the facilities of Cándido Hermida in Narón, one of the firms included by the airport manager AENA in the second framework agreement for the updating of furniture of the security filters valued at 18.4 million euros and with a duration of five years.
As explained by the subdelegate of the Government, the participation of the Coruña companies -Cándido Hermida and Alumbran- will depend on the demands of each airport. The orders are put out to tender during the period of validity of the agreement, participating the three companies awarded according to the needs of each terminal. In this regard, he pointed out that Cándido Hermida had already participated in the first framework agreement and that, since 2018, he obtained contracts worth 1.85 million euros to renew the furniture of the security filters of terminals such as those of the airports of Madrid, Alicante, Barcelona or Reus.
María Rivas indicated that the selection of these firms “speaks a lot and very well of our companies”. “It is a pride that a Narón company equips the country’s major airports. Thus, every time we pass through a control, the good work of the Galician furniture sector will be very present”, said the subdelegate.
In this sense, he pointed out that this new contract, which is part of a global contract of 131 million euros for the modernization of the security filters in which the equipment for managing and inspecting luggage is included, will allow to place the Spanish airports “at the technological forefront and make more agile and comfortable the passage through these areas and, in turn, bet on more current furniture and according to the needs of the users, making spaces more spacious and comfortable”.
On the visit to the facilities, the subdelegate was received by Cándido Hermida, president and founder of the company; Santos Pérez, general director; Natalia Hermida, responsible for the business development area, and Juan Carlos Domínguez, director of new materials and responsible for the account of AENA, whom she congratulated for the achievement of this new contract.
Cándido Hermida is a company specialized in the integral execution of projects for sectors such as construction, shipbuilding or hospitality with headquarters in the United States, France and Qatar and strong international implementation, with presence in more than 70 countries. Narón is responsible for projects for major fashion companies such as Mango or Inditex, but also for hotels, restaurants, yachts and cruises and employs more than 500 people.
