The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, highlighted the increase in participation in the activities of the Master Plan for the improvement of coexistence in educational centers and their contours registered in the last year by families and teachers. Specifically, the subdelegate stressed that, in 2023, the number of teachers who took part in the activities increased threefold, from 602 in 2022 to 1,950 last year. And it happens with the families, with 1,379 participants compared to 549 in the previous year. In total, in the province, 359 schools and 41,509 participating assistants took part in the Master Plan, of which 38,180 are students.
The subdelegate explained that behind this increase are two factors. Of one group, the line of collaboration that the Government Delegation established with the public ANPAS, to which are added this year also those of the private and concerted centers and, on the other, the new instructions of the Master Plan, which allow for the first time the ANPAS directly request participation in the activities.
María Rivas reported this data during the media exhibition organized by the Gardia Civil in the municipal sports center of Abegondo within the framework of the School Coexistence Master Plan and in which she was accompanied by the lieutenant colonel and accidental head of the A Coruña Command, Jorge Bodelón; the director of the Education area of the Government Delegation, Lois García Carballido, and the mayor of Abegondo, José Antonio Santiso.
The event was attended by students from the CEIP Grande Obra, As Mariñas, Francisco Aguiar and Valles Villamarín de Betanzos and San Marcos and Vios de Abegondo, who were able to witness, in several shifts, demonstrations by the GREIM (Special Rescue Group for Mountain Intervention); the GEDEX Service (Explosives Deactivation Service); the USECIC (Citizen Security Unit of Command, and the SAER (Air Service).
During the exhibition, the agents carried out several simulations, consisting of a rescue in high mountains with subsequent evacuation by helicopter; they showed the procedure to follow in case of detention of a dangerous person, and also carried out a demonstration of the removal of an explosive device with the Miura Robot.
The subdelegate, who called for cooperation between administrations, security forces and the educational community when promoting coexistence in schools and institutes in Galicia, acknowledged the commitment “beyond the position” of the trainers of National Police and Civil Guard who support the educational community on a daily basis.
In this regard, he stressed the “importance of children of school age being able to get closer to know the different units of the Civil Guard, as well as the protocols for action against different crimes.” He also noted that “they are a good tool to work on awareness of prevention as well, and they strengthen confidence in law enforcement and law enforcement.”
He also wanted to highlight the fact that these exhibitions are always based on solidarity, and that in this call they have allowed us to collect more food and personal hygiene supplies, which will be destined for the social services of the City of Abegondo “which will allow the many people of this region in a situation of vulnerability to help”.
