The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, informed today of a new transfer of 2,490,168 euros in tourism to the Xunta de Galicia that will allow the development of a training plan in digital skills aimed at tourist SMEs in Galicia and the professional people who work in them. The Official State Gazette today publishes the resolution of the Secretary of State for Tourism that materializes the agreement approved at the last meeting of the Sectoral Conference on Tourism.
The delegate pointed out that, thanks to this new transfer, about 900 people working in SMEs in the tourism sector of Galicia will be able to benefit from a training program of 150 hours. The program must be completed before the end of the second quarter of 2026 and may be extended to young people who want to train in this type of skills to access the tourist labor market.
Throughout Spain, the objective of the Ministry of Industry is to train more than 19,000 people, with an investment of 54 million euros from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The distribution of funds was agreed with the autonomous communities and had as reference the employment figures of the tourism sector in each region.
Tourism digitization
Pedro Blanco detailed that this action is part of the Digital Transformation Program of the Tourism Sector promoted by the Government, which conceives “digitalization as one of the strategic elements for the modernization of the tourism sector and the improvement of its competitiveness.”
The delegate recalled that this program includes the extension of the Network of Intelligent Tourist Destinations, to which 51 municipalities and Galician deputies are currently attached. Along with it, another initiative that is under way is the creation of a Destination Tourism Intelligence System (SIT), which already launched in January this year a first data module, available for use by the network of smart tourist destinations.
