Pedro Blanco advanced on the call for scholarships for the next year that will be an investment of 2,535 million euros, a figure he described as “historic”, because, in the words of the delegate, “it is 72% higher than those issued by governments previous to that of Pedro Sánchez”. Blanco stressed from this upcoming call his progress “towards that equality of opportunities that we always intend, especially thinking about our young people, and, above all, towards the goal that new students do not have to abandon their training and studies due to their socio-economic conditions”.
In addition, this new call improves income conditions, increasing the thresholds by 5% to compensate for the rise in CPI and salaries. “This will allow more families and children of workers to access these scholarships or improve the amounts they receive,” said the delegate to respect.
“To this amount earmarked for scholarships we must add the rates that all these people saved, and that raise the figure contributed by the Government to the future of these boys and girls by several million euros,” said Pedro Blanco.
Modernization of the university system
The Government is accompanying the autonomous communities and the universities themselves in the implementation of the new Universities Act. This law guarantees that 1% of GDP if it invests in the university system while improving the conditions of teaching and research staff.
The government delegate and the rector of the UDC also had time to talk precisely about research. Pedro Blanco praised the strong research character of the University of A Coruña and the talent of the professionals working in that area.
