Following the path begun last year with public centers, the Government’s subdelegate in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited today the headquarters of the Provincial Federation of ANPAS of Concerted and Private Centers (FAPA), where she held a meeting with representatives of its board of directors to continue the work of bringing the Master Plan for the Improvement of Coexistence and Security to the entire educational community.
At the meeting, which was also attended by Xosé Lois García Carballido, director of the High Inspection of Education area, the subdelegate wanted to gather the suggestions and needs of parents’ associations of concerted and private education to establish mechanisms to bring them closer to the activities of the plan and thus improve its efficiency.
María Rivas insisted that the involvement of families is essential so that the Coexistence Plan can reach the entire school community and develop its activities successfully, hence the importance of this meeting.
The work carried out over the 15 years of existence of the Master Plan indicates that the involvement of mothers’ associations in the country is key. For this reason, the subdelegate of the Government appealed to FAPA to become more involved, and to participate by promoting in the educational centers the activities offered through it. “The objective is to get families involved in the activities, because through them they reinforce the work that is done in schools when dealing with issues such as cyberbullying, the use of technologies, violence of any kind, data protection or additions to the game or technology, among others,” said Rivas.
In this regard, he reported that “this year, for the first time, the Anpas can directly request these activities, in which the tools are given to families so that our sons and daughters are more prepared and more protected against these threats.”
The School Coexistence Plan involves the educational community, the personnel of the Civil Guard and the National Police, passing through the municipalities, the educational inspection and the personnel of the High Inspection area of the Government Delegation and the subdelegations. This plan offers activities both for students and teachers and also for families -mothers, parents and legal guardians-, hence the need to continue with this type of direct contacts to achieve greater involvement of all parties, facilitating their participation.
In addition, the Government ' s deputy delegate took the opportunity to point out that in 2023, 41,509 people participated in the various activities that were programmed under the Master Plan throughout the province, which allowed 359 educational centres to be reached, 68 more than in 2022.
A total of 1,920 activities were carried out under the Master Plan, including topics such as cybersecurity, bullying, gender violence and addiction. The Government ' s Subdelegation also wishes to intensify these activities through collaboration with the Provincial Federation of Concerted and Private Centres.
