The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, presented this morning in the provincial direction of A Coruña the 56 new Violeta Points with which they will have the 52 offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) of Galicia and the four preliminary addresses, which will serve as safe places for women victims of machista aggressions.
Pedro Blanco assessed the impact that actions like this have on the consolidation of the objective of making the Public Administration “a mirror of the unequivocal commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to the eradication of male violence in all its forms.” He also stressed the “safe and supportive place” in which all SEPE offices will be converted for all women who suffer physical, psychological and economic violence.
The delegate stressed that currently about 4,800 women in Galicia are in the protection and monitoring system against gender violence of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the fact that more than 1,100 Galician men are persistent aggressors. “It is not a statistical mist, because each case speaks of a woman, of a very difficult personal situation, who needs psychological, social and economic support,” said Pedro Blanco.
No act, in which the delegate was accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas; the provincial director of the SEPE in A Coruña, Estefanía Pita; the directors and directors of the four offices of the service in the city of A Coruña; the head of the Unit of Coordination against Violence on Women of the Delegation of the Government, María Debén, and the head of the Unit against Violence on Women of A Coruña, Manuela Villaboy, explained that the creation of these Offices will be converted to the Violence.
Each of the points will be identified as such and will have a QR code that will be linked to the Violeta Point Guide, with information on how to act in cases of aggression, resources for victims and information of interest to know how to identify machista attitudes and put a stop to them.
This resource is part of the catalogue of urgent measures of the Improvement and Modernization Plan promoted by different ministries in the context of the sexist alarm of recent months. It also implies a change of focus in the policies of care for victims, placing male violence as a structural problem that must be attacked from the involvement of all State institutions.
With the implementation of this initiative, the Government Delegation begins the events on the occasion of 8M, Women's Day, which will continue with other actions, such as the display of banners in government subdelegations, training courses to act in situations of violence against foreign women and a colloquium with girls and new women in the Muncyt, among others. All of them are part of a feminist agenda that the Government Delegation is already extending to every month of the year.
