The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, chaired this morning together with the Director of High Inspection of Education, Xosé Lois García Carballido, the Provincial Commission for Follow-up of the Master Plan that the Ministry of the Interior has been developing for more than a decade to improve security and coexistence in educational centers. The follow-up meeting was also attended by the persons responsible for the specialized units of the National Police and the Civil Guard, who are responsible for coordinating training activities in the province, the head of the Unit against Violence against Women of the Subdelegation, the territorial head of Education and the Inspector of Education of the Xunta de Galicia.
Isabel Rodríguez celebrated the consolidation and continuity of the Master Plan “with a very positive impact on the educational community of the province”, expressly recognizing “the work of the agents and teachers for the quality and commitment of the actions carried out, with a magnificent collaboration between the security forces and the educational centers”.
The subdelegate highlighted the work carried out in the province of Lugo by the specialized teams of both the National Police and the Civil Guard, which carried out 586 training and prevention activities in which more than 24,000 people participated, of which about 22,000 were minors, 1,300 teachers and almost 1,300 family members.

The topics most requested by the schools were, first of all, cybersecurity, especially the protection of boys and girls on social networks, followed by talks on bullying or cyberbullying in schools. Addictions to drugs, gambling or technology and male violence occupy, respectively, the third and fourth position among the most requested.
Second, said the Government’s deputy delegate, “from the Government, the subjects and activities were increased to constantly adapt to social demands due to the existence of new security needs among schoolchildren, derived from the changing society.”
Consolidation and increased demand
In Lugo, three out of four schools requested awareness talks within the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in 2023. In percentage terms, 76% of the centres applied for training, with a total of 164 participating in the plan.
With respect to the previous year, the number of participating students increased by 31%, teachers by 34% and it is necessary to highlight the number of parents and family attending talks, which increased by 200%.
