Emilio González put the Region as an example of the Government’s commitment to small municipalities, "which are called to be protagonists of the transformation of Spain towards a green, digital, sustainable and cohesive country, to achieve the objectives of the demographic challenge" that currently allows more than 2,500 residents to have ease in their services. The Single Plan represents a "faster take-off" in the province of Ourense, said the subdelegate.
The City of Toén is a pioneer in the implementation of the Unified Rural Demand Plan with greater speed of implementation in the province of Ourense allowing satellite connection in "dark and remote areas"
The Subdelegate of the Government highlighted the call for the Single Rural Demand Plan that is already a tangible fact in the province of Ourense where the municipality of Toén is a pioneer in its implementation with greater number of registrations, followed by Castro Caldelas and Castrelo de Miño.
This program allows to increase coverage in remote and rural areas where for now there is no fiber connection, "affecting the democratization and breaking of the digital divide". In addition, the subdelegate highlighted the “government’s commitment to high speed by increasing the speed of the service from 100 Mbp to 200Mps, improving by 35 points the quality of the service and the European average of connectivity”.
This action is specially designed for the most remote and sparsely populated rural areas, to be able to offer fixed connectivity for any activity and do so at an affordable price for all budgets, rewarding the closed price of 35 euros per month and aid of up to 600 euros for the installation
This program is possible thanks to the satellite technology awarded to Hispasat by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and which will allow access to high speed in remote territories. Emilio González pointed out that this is "very good news for a province with a territorial and mountainous extension such as Ourense".
The subdelegate highlights that achieving broadband coverage for 100 percent of the population is one of the objectives of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the Digital Spain Agenda 2026.
