The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, held a working meeting with the secretary of FADEMGA Full inclusion Galicia, Miguel López, with whom he reviewed the advances in rights for people with disabilities during the government of Pedro Sánchez.
In this regard, the delegate highlighted the recent modification of article 49 of the Spanish Constitution, which extends the rights of people with disabilities and eliminates from the text the expression "physically, sensory and psychic diminished".
On this modification, the third since the entry into force of the Constitution and the first of social content, Blanco pointed out that "it pays a moral debt to people with disabilities", while at the same time showing that "the transcendent of politics is the effect it has on people's lives."
During the meeting, the delegate and the secretary of FADEMGA also reviewed the implementation of the reform introduced in the Civil Code to modify and adapt the measures to support people with disabilities to the general principle that all people have legal capacity on equal terms with others in all aspects of life.
This respect, Pedro Blanco pointed out that this modification means in practice that protective measures are replaced by support measures. “There is no longer guardianship, now the disabled person is supported to the extent they need it,” he said.
For his part, Miguel López transferred to the delegate some of the demands of the collective, which go through extending the tax deductions in the case of de facto guards or to expressly include in the draft law of families those made up of relatives on which some judicial measure of support was established, regardless of the typology of the same.
Pedro Blanco promised to pass on the demands of the collective to the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, and to the head of the Treasury, María Jesús Montero, to continue improving the lives of Galicians and Galicians with disabilities, making them protagonists of their actions and moving forward in the recovery of their dignity.
