The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, held a working meeting with the mayor of Padrón, Anxo Rei, with whom he reviewed the government’s investments in the concello, which exceed seven million euros.
Specifically, the delegate and the councilor of Padronés highlighted the works of expansion and modernization of the drinking water treatment station (ETAP) of Padrón, executed by Augas de Galicia and in which the Government invests 7.4 million euros through the Recovery Plan.
This infrastructure guarantees the supply of drinking water to the 10 concellos on the right bank of the estuary that are connected to the system: Boiro, Catoira, Dodro, A Pobra, Pontecesures, Rianxo, Ribeira, Valga and Padrón himself, to which we must add the concello of Vilagarcía de Arousa.
With this action, the treatment station will increase its capacity from the current 450 litres per second (L/s) it currently supplies to 630 L/s, which will put an end to supply limitations and allow a population of more than 90,000 inhabitants to offer greater guarantees of supply in the face of possible increases in demand. In addition, it will incorporate a water recovery system for washing filters that are currently poured into the Ulla River, which will make it more efficient and sustainable.
Pedro Blanco pointed out that actions such as the modernization of the ETAP of Padrón “show the commitment of the Government with the improvement of services in each and every one of the Galician concellos” and the importance of the funds of the Recovery Plan, “which reach all corners of Galicia”.
In the course of the meeting, the delegate and Anxo Rei also reviewed the impact of other actions, such as improving the energy efficiency of the lighting system of the municipality thanks to the aid of 240,000 euros from the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE) of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, or the extension of broadband by the UNICO Program of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, which allowed to bring high-speed Internet to 794 households and companies that did not have this service.
